António Abernú (b. 1973) began studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Beira Interior,
Covilhã, but ended in a Drama school in Évora – Cendrev. Actor, stage director, creator and trainer of
theatre. Participated in the XI Session of I.S.T.A. (International School of Theatre Anthropology) of
Eugenio Barba. Attended the 1st Seminar directors of the National Theatre D. Maria II, Lisbon. Course
in Educational Management and Marketing and Project Evaluation Services and Cultural Activities, Sete
Pés. Always connected to the university theatre and the association, in 2000, founded the ASTA –
Association of Theatre and other Arts, Covilhã. Four years later, conceives and directs the Virtual
Theatre Project, sponsored by the Culture Operational Plan – FEDER. Training activity in Direction of
Actors, Body and Movement and the Behavioural areas and Communication. Holds a master’s degree
in Communication Sciences, specialization in Communication and Arts, from FCSH/UNL.
His research has as its starting point the increased presence of water, as a subject in contemporary art
of the 21rst century, ecological sustainability and environmental concerns, and a personal work, with
more than three years, the Project ”The man who wanted to be water”, that promotes an artistic

Ontology of water has to do with the evolution of time, contamination, mixing, melting of materials and
permanent memories recoding. Water is the transformation, metamorphosis, regeneration formal, joint
life and death.

António Abernú
Nasceu em 1973. Frequentou o curso de Eng. Aeronáutica da Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã.
Paralelamente entra para o Teatrubi, acabando no Centro Dramático de Évora a estudar Teatro. Trabalhou no
Teatro das Beiras, como Actor e Director de Digressão. Inicia simultaneamente um trabalha de direcção e
encenação em grupos de teatro amador e universitário. Participação como actor na XI Sessão da I.S.T.A.
(International School of Theatre Anthropology) dirigida por Eugénio Barba. No Ano 2000, funda a ASTA –
Associação de Teatro e outras Artes do Distrito de Castelo Branco, onde cria, interpreta e encena vários
espectáculos e ministra formação artística. Foi orador convidado no V MITEU – Mostra Internacional de Teatro
Universitário de Orense, Espanha. Em 2004 concebe e dirige o projecto Teatro Virtual, inserido no Plano
Operacional da Cultura – FEDER. Fez o Curso de Marketing e Gestão em Serviços Educativos e Avaliação de
Projectos e Actividades Culturais – Sete Pés. Frequentou o 1º Seminário Jovens Encenadores no Teatro Nacional
D.Maria II, Lisboa. Participou como actor em Até Amanha Camaradas, realizado por Joaquim Leitão para a SIC.
Formador credenciado pelo IEFP, ministra cursos de Corpo e Movimento, Direcção de Actores e Comunicação e
Criatividade. A convite da Biblioteca da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da U. Nova de Lisboa escreve, cria e
interpreta: O homem que queria ser água – espectáculo de sensibilização sobre a água e os problemas
